The output value of medical device on a large scale will follow the quality and brand oriented path

On March 27, China Medical Pharmaceutical Material Association published the Development Blue Book of Chinese Medical Instruments 2015, in Beijing. In line with the statistic of the sample survey by China Medical Pharmaceutical Material Association, the sales scale of national medical instrument market in 2015 is about 308 billion RMB, with an increase of 20.05%, i.e. 52.4 billion RMB, compared with the 255.6 billion RMB in 2014.

Rising by 14 times in 14 years

　　As pointed in the blue book, the sales scale of national medical instrument market raises from 17.9 billion RMB in 2001 to 255.6 billion in 2014, which means there is a 14.28 times growth during 14 years. It should be noted that the influence of price index is not taken into consideration.

Medical instruments turn to quality and brand orientation

　　It is also pointed out in the blue book that the sales value of medical drug and instruments in developed countries are quite close. However, the sales value of Chinese medical instruments is only one third of medical drugs value. Besides, the sales of medical instruments in China is far lower than the global average level, forming the situation of “ignoring medical instrument and emphasizing medical drugs”.

　　The guidance of our national policy for medical reform and the need to upgrade our instrument for medical institutes make China the biggest consumption market of medical instruments. Under the spur of market demand and the background of the stable growth of Chinese economy, our medical instrument industry keeps developing, seizing an increasingly important position in the whole medical industry. The medical instrument industry in China is moving forward the path in developed countries, i.e. “emphasizing medical instrument and ignoring medical drugs”.

　　Besides, a group of core enterprises of medical instruments have emerged. By now, three concentration regions of medical instruments have come into being, i.e. the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and Bohai Gulf region. The development goal of medical instrument enterprises have transformed from quantity and output orientation into quality and brand orientation.
